User:Andy/Idea/Internet "How's my driving"

You know those signs you see on vans and trucks saying "How's my driving? Call 0800 1234567"? Well it would be good if every vehicle had a unique identifier (like a licence plate?) and then you could go to a web site and leave messages for the owner.

It could be complaints about their driving, or even compliments, or you could appeal for witnesses to accidents, or try to pick people up.. Perhaps road rage would be lessened if you knew you could get on the internet and have an argument with the person (pseudonymously) later?

Problems are:

  • Unless it was government-sponsored and instructions issued with the documentation of the vehicle then hardly anyone would know about it. Nobody would bother leaving messages since they would rarely get read. As this would serve no useful administrative function whatsoever, this seems unlikely & undesirable.
  • Licence plates seem like a good way to distinguish vehicles, but there is a privacy issue with publishing licence plates. You can find out a lot of info about the owner. So they're no good. Everyone would have to put an additional sticker of some sort on their vehicles.
